What is alternative dispute resolution?

Disputes can occur between individuals, organizations and/or between individuals and organizations. Alternative dispute resolution provides a way to resolve these disputes without going to court. The specific programs offered by the Dispute Resolution Center of the Northwest include mediation, arbitration, large group mediation, and specialized dispute resolution services for organizations.

 

These alternatives are usually less expensive and quicker than going to court. The Dispute Resolution Center of the Northwest provides parties to the dispute with tailored services that will meet the needs of the parties and their legal counsel. Although parties are not required to be represented by legal counsel it is strongly recommend that parties are represented.

An Emphasis on Non-profit Organizations
The DRC is launching a new emphasis on serving non-profit organizations that are experiencing conflict, disarray or disputes within the Board. Our Board development programs include improving communications between members, helping Boards understand the role of the Board is governance - not management, and helping the Board break gridlock.
